Welcome to All about coffee Answers. What would you like to know?

A semi-automatic (or pump driven) espresso machine combines an electric pump mechanism with a traditional structure and brewing process. Unlike with piston driven espresso machines, in which steam is condensed into an aerosol by the manually operated piston, semi-automatic machines use an electric pump to drive a spray of hot water (in temperature of 85-95 degrees Celsius), over the coffee powder. Besides this difference, semi-automatic machines are operated pretty much in the same way as piston-driven machines, leaving the operator in almost full control of the process.
